Not your doing, imo. I also see it from others, occasionally.
I often compose a post offline, easier to check my facts while doing it etc. If I compose in OpenOffice email and cut/paste, no problem. But if I do it in OpenOffice doc, I get same as you. If I copy/paste from a website, sometimes it gets messed up, sometimes not. I have checked options for pasting, I can't find an answer.
Never happened to me on the old HC.

Would be grateful if anyone can help/explain how to consistently avoid it.

its also easy to use your Notepad app and paste it into there first..

or try going back to old Hotcopper site which should be found at bottom of page near site map..
