Yes they wait a couple of years while the LGCs are still worth a bit and the price of batteries falls. After that, the price of power is likely to be much lower during the day (due to duck curve) and they can install a "Big(ish) Battery", charge it during daytime hours when power is cheap, and sell it back to the grid during the evening peak.
