They only need to touch basement to get an understanding of the lithology.
So in saying this they were hoping to hit mafic/ultramafic rocks and they did.
Now that they have the rocks they are going to follow up with the EM and hope that they have some signatures over this ground which they can drill.
It is inevitable that they will succeed with the drilling, it is VERY unlikely that they will hit anything of worth.
And sure....send the samples for assay but please dont try and put 'anomalous Ni or Cu' in the announcement because anomalous in an ultramafic for me will have to be pretty elevated.
The MRD pro crowd seem pretty quite on the back of their amazing announcement!
