The new system is designed to significantly reduce brake wear on Linfox trailers serving remote areas. Michael Stoyles, Linfox’s Fleet Manager Industrial said that trailers serving remote mining regions, such as Australia’s Pilbara, required frequent maintenance because of the accumulation of abrasive dust. He said, “Advanced Braking Technology’s SIBS® (Sealed Integrated Braking System) encloses the disc brake in a housing partly filled with a light oil which protects the disc from the accumulation of abrasive dust particles and ensures very low wear.” The pilot will run for three months on Linfox trailer dollies operating between Port Hedland and Western Australia’s iron ore Pilbara region. Advanced Braking’s General Manager, Sam Leighton said the system was first developed to protect braking systems in mine support vehicles. “Its success in harsh mine environments has proved the concept. SIBS® brakes are now also being used in the waste industry where trucks incur frequent stopping and starting.” The new system improves reliability and safety for fleets that includes off-road driving in their operations.
These are one of the toughest customers in Australia so they better get it right as you don't get a 2nd chance. Hope the trial goes well and actually has a follow up program with time frames otherwise we are just doing a demo and giving away data while we burn the $. No more trials or tests without financial end on successful completion
