"Also fitting new brakes to new chassis at the point of manufacture will reduce the price."
My brother purchased a new mid size (10 ton) japanese truck in New Zealand, about 4 years ago.
It was intersting to see how the purchase occurred. The Mitsubishi company had a chassis and cab and drive train but no suspension or brakes or wheels on the truck. Not sure if it even had a drive shaft. My brother was able to get off the shelf at Tauranga in New Zealand the brakes and rear axle set up he wanted and type of supsension he wanted leaf or air , plus incorporate a tag axle (an axle with no drive to it at the rear)
I am guessing to keep freight costs down and aid customisation for new trucks only the bare minimum can be ordered from the manufacturer ,and then customised at point of sale.
THis would neeed to be confirmed by Ken .
