Even though it's a good result, it looks to me like the strategic move from live sales to boxed beef & Livingstone has cost them a bumper jackpot year because of the difference in price increases, Live cattle +30%, beef 6-10%. But, as they keep saying, it does provide a path where future earnings are more sustainable, consistent and predictable. There is definitely sales and profit momentum. As I asked in a post last year, when are beef price increases going to catch up with live cattle price increases? If this happens their strategy will be more than vindicated.
