Hey @Ulysses05
I enjoyed reading through all your posts on Pointerra over the weekend. Thanks.
One of the problems when buying a set-up like Pointerra - any set-up for that matter - and then postimg about it on HC, is the tendency to post re-affirming information on a stock you already own.
The problem with Pointerra is that I can't find a lot not to like. The more I learn, the more I like.
I particularly enjoy seeing Ian Olson interviewed. He defines everything Ian Cassell calls an Intelligent Fanatic - he is highly intelligent, driven, runs a very tight fiscal ship with a tight register getting tighter, in a massive rapidly expanding global technology market with a beautiful business model that makes money not just for Pointerra, but for all their partners and collaborators - a genuine win-win for all.
On top of which they have a significant first-mover advantage built on strong IP in the process of being legally formalised, not just any IP, but developed over an 8 year period through working on a specific data capture project for Rio Tinto.
The cream on the cake is the fact that the business was conceived in collaboration with Rob Newman who set up Nearmap, and who is a T20 shareholder and sits on our Board as Non-Executive Director
So Pointerra is not your run-of-the-mill RTO start-up.
Speaking of interviews, I watched these two from last October's Commercial, Technical and Corporate Update. They are well worth watching for anyone new to Pointerra, and those who would like a recap about the opportunity on offer.
On the subject of a tight register, I thought this recent Tweet from Ian was insightful following the Euroz Securities Investor Conference on Rottnest.
Replying to
@michaelfagnello
, who asked, Why do you need to sell the story?
Ian Olson: "Building a register of strong hands. Life is about selling."
And this one, replying to Tolga Kumova, legend in his own right, on execution.
Tolga: "
The businesses plans don't change because people buy and sell shares. Management teams have plans they must execute. Success in executing those plans will create value one way or another."
Ian: "1
00%. Execution: Do what you said you we’re going to do. Period. $3DP"
A prime example of this execution is the launch of the 3D Data Market Place.
From the Half Year Report:
"Pointerra’s most entrepreneurial data capture customer and partner is currently planning a series of city-capture programs in Australia using aerial LiDAR to generate 3D datasets that will be hosted on Pointerra’s cloud platform to sell access to both 3D data and derived 2D mapping solutions for a range of use cases via a monthly subscription model. The capture programs are being underwritten by local authorities and Pointerra will share in revenue generated from the subscription service.
Less than two weeks later:
Pointerra Launches 3D Data Marketplace with Foundation Customer
Pointerra Limited (ASX: 3DP) (“Pointerra”; “Company”) is pleased to announce the signing of its first Data Marketplace and Business Partnership Agreement (“Agreement”) with Total Earth Solutions Pty Ltd (“TES”), an existing Pointerra Data as a Service (“DaaS”) customer and an Australian multidisciplinary geoscience group with extensive experience across a wide range of geographical terrains on most continents.
3D Data Marketplace TES will fly the Perth LGA (Local Government Area) during April 2018 with LiDAR equipped aircraft, producing a highly accurate aerial 3D dataset which will be offered for sale on Pointerra’s cloud platform for 3D data.
TES Managing Director, Brett Johnson:
"This really is a world-class development in the market for the capture and sale of aerial 3D LiDAR, derived mapping products and analytics made possible because of the power, scale and flexibility offered through Pointerra’s cloud platform. We look forward to working with Pointerra to extend the geographical reach of the 3D Data Marketplace.”
There's a lot more I'd like to say, but will cut it short for now, gone on long enough.
Just thought I'd leave with this chart, 12 month Weekly.
I don't think I've seen a chart like it. The Pyramid Pattern is impressive. Strange that the apex high was EXACTLY on the day - 4 January - the appointment of our first North American sales resource, Trent Casi, ex-Eagle View Technologies, was announced.
IMO, all the vectors from Dec 2015-Jan 2106 point - pardon the pun - in the same direction. The way they converge on the current price point - oh dear - is telling the story for anyone who cares to look.
With Ian running a tight ship and ruling out the need in the above videos for any CR, and with CFP on the horizon, if this isn't being accumulated I don't know what is.
