I talked to a friend a while ago when he presented an idea to develop video chat softwares from scratch, I was not impressed at all given there are thousands apps out there already covering almost every single sub category.

But he told me, it's huge market, you don't need to be the winner to win.

A few years later, his app is out running with monthly active user at around handreds of thousands, significant cash flows running, is it less than whatsapp? hell yes, incomparable. Does it make money, a lot!

This has shown me it's the execution power that creates value, not just a nice idea. As long as you do your homework properly, you are likely be successful and be paid off.
