what continus to stagger me is the number of punters out there that have int only mortgages ......
as everyone knows - APRA has mandated <30% of total ......
when one does the sums for an "average" aussie
awote (annual) circa 58-62k
- tax on income (12k)
- cost of living (5-7k to eat)
-car (10-12k)
-rent (say 350/week - 18.2k
health / clothes / ciggies etc - 5k
so the ave punter has 5-9k left to save for a deposit.....
Kitty - another "good test" is to look at the return on incremental capital (and some times you have to average this over a few years) - like store refurbs / new comp systems etc.....
