As such, I don't think this solar array and battery storage will provide much as far as the total power requirements of the naval base will be.

From what I can tell, this is only a small part of what will eventually be a much bigger microgrid that will include more solar pv and wave energy, (perhaps even wind energy?).

I think the real benefit though, is that it is a step toward giving energy and freshwater security to a very important defence asset. For that, they should be able to charge a premium.
