I don't think its the QLD government that is giving the approvals so sitting time is not an issue. The govt sits to pass new laws not new project approvals. The EPA advises the govt directly on legislation, not individual approvals.

The qld mines dept is the lead agency and will make the decision if CNX can move to the application stage under the current gas approvals regime in place.

If they decide that UCG needs its own approval system then the EPA will advise the state govt who will then pass the laws required.

This will likely be approved under the current frame work unless the mines minister or someone that pulls his strings needs to do a deal with someone opposed to UCG like other types of gas manufactures, or if he needs support of someone from the left to keep his job then the project will be held up indefinitely.

The political system is basically legally corrupt so its anyone's guess if the approval process will go ahead. The big plus is the states finances have been mismanaged by successive governments so they need projects that provide tax revenue, royalties and jobs so all is not lost.

Was interesting to see the attack on Linc over their decommissioned UCG site that was not them in the end. Never heard any apologies or retractions. And didn't hear the outcome of the investigation, was it the farmers again polluting as usual?
