    On superannuation, both parties seem very keen to throw the baby out with the bath water. Consolidating funds will only replace a lot of minor collapses with a few big ones.

    Seriously, very few funds have planned for rocky times.  Those that have planned appropriately will be closed because both Liberal and Labor are of the view that past years returns are indicative of future returns.  Both parties want  to reward managers who go for broke and to hell with any risk.

    As I see it, the only true survivors may be a  few boutique funds with managers who are smart enough to keep their powder dry at times.  At least in your case and in mine the whole system of government would need  to fall before the indexed fortnightly deposits cease  (or we kark it without an named beneficiary).
