Even the Department of Veterans Affairs costs are conservative estimates as the longer these wars drag on the bigger the post war costs rise with the number of scarred veterans despite their incredibly high suicide rates.
No one thinks of the families of war on both sides and the lives lost and destroyed. These are hard to put dollar figures on let alone the emotional and physiological pain (note this is just the US dollars costs alone).
