Amazon is targeting the health coaching market.
The Bezos-run behemoth has linked with New York-based One Drop to market One Drop diabetic coaching subscriptions and other diabetes-related products.
As it builds its Choice Health division, Amazon is emerging as a direct competitor to the diabetes coaching programs run by CardieX’s InHealth Medical Services affiliate.
On the other hand, Amazon’s acknowledgement of the revenue potential in coaching tends to validate CDX CEO Craig Cooper’s strategy of targeting the health coaching sector in the US…and now China.
Founded and run by diabetic Jeff Dachis, One Drop sells coaching subs ranging from $39.95 for a seven week course in Advanced Carb Counting to $119.95 for a six month program addressing Gestational Diabetes.
The firm’s website, onedrop.today, sets out in simple terms how diabetes coaching works.
The website exemplifies what InHealth’s website might look like after the major overhaul flagged by Craig Cooper.
“Our team of certified diabetes educators utilize proven behavior change techniques to meet participants where they are and guide them on their journey to self-management and healthy living”, One Drop says.
“One Drop Coaching gives you 24/7 access to your very own live Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) using the One Drop App.
“Your coach is there to provide support, education, and advice during your One Drop journey!”
On March 12, CardieX posted a 35pp Overview and China Strategy Update signed off by Craig Cooper and VP Corporate Development, ZiHan Lin.
The Update noted that China has 130m diabetics and that inHealth has certified diabetes prevention dieticians and programs that “comply with CDC’s DPRP standards”.
