Held Newmont a couple of months ago for same reasons as Dub stated in his post( ie little hedging biggest gold producer insto interest etc) found that my Aussie gold stocks performed much better due to the appreciating australian dollar( even though the Aussie gold price has not really been going up the Aussie goldies still seem to move up with the US $ gold price). Maybe we will see the US $ steady against the AUS dollar which would improve newmonts performance but after my earlier sojourn into this stock I have decided that I am better off owning Aussie Goldies.
