I agree the mistake was to put the single desk in a publicly listed vehicle - and i said so loudly at the time. But the economic rationalists knew better. And they crawl like lice all over Canberra. All these ideas would be great if we had a huge domestic population to consume product and fund subsidies through tax like the US and EEC!
That doesn't in itself rate as an arguement against the single desk.
And as a wheat grower didn't you get shares ?
