"Ratings agency Standard & Poor's has downgraded Foster's Group to only one notch above junk status as the drinks giant moves to wrap up its entirely debt-funded takeover of Southcorp.
The rating has been cut from BBB to the lowest investment grade, BBB-, with Foster's now holding 95.3 per cent of Southcorp and in a position to mop up the rest compulsorily.
