I don't think the downgrade history is as you propose. I remember reading results saying up to 8-9% profit downgrade then they upgraded to -0 to -4 and now they are at -5 to -7%. Thigs aren't as progressively getting worse they are a stable level of average ness. The only place talking about a profit increase this year was hc forums with overly optimistic views.
I'm hoping for $9.20 which would emulate the low in pe terms in 2008 when earnings fell by 2.5% obviously it may go lower given it is a 6% fall in earnings this time but the market is anything other than predictable and I'd rather get in at a good price than not get in at a great price. $9.24 would be a long term return of 15.4% against market of 11% so I'll be happy to get in at that price.
