I agree CCL may not technically be a monopoly but has in excess of 50% of the Australian softdrink market. Speaking of market share, CCL's biggest risk remains in the form of the price war with Pepsi and tension from the major supermarkets. He who sets the prices rules. Businesses like CCL, MTS, BKL are in the grip of competitive forces working against them. Pepsi is not caring how much it racks up in losses by pursuing CCL.
The next few trading updates will be crucial for CCL. Its share price will probably fall below $12 if it does not arrest the decline in its earnings or the magnitude of the drop in its earnings gets worse. Buying into CCL atm brings risks which do not appear to be resolved soon.
