The ACCCs draft decision comes just months after five of the six North West Shelf producers (Shell, Chevron, BP, Woodside and BHP Billiton) combined together to force a reported 300 per cent price hike on Alinta. Alinta is the States largest gas retailer and buys wholesale gas from the North West Shelf producers to supply 600,000 homes and businesses in the State.
Some extract from one of recent submssion to ACCC to argue the joint selling of the NWS which cause higher gas price to WA customers.
The number would be interest to us is that alinta now might have close to 600,000 customers. So we are expanding from last years 560,000 customers.
Also it helps in the coogee vs alinta case, coogee is likely to fail because the root of gas price hike is from NWS.
