"I'm true blue, I buy only from Australian companies. At least its a bit more pride for Australia than those that shop at Aldi and pretend. . imo"
I am sure you try to be but are probably under some misapprehensions . ( not on purpose )
Let's take the example of the Monte Carlo biscuit......
They retail for about $ 3.15 let's assume that woolies buys them for ( and I am not sure of their markup)
lets say $ 2. 50 .
$ 2.50 goes to Arnotts ( a foreign entity ) (80 %) and 0.65 to woolies ( 20 % )
Wheras if you buy Kookas biscuits or any other Australian manufactured biscuit you will
be keeping the 80 % + the woolies 20 % = 100 % in Aussie hands.
You are probably not as true blue as you think .
On some lines maybe 80 % of your dollar is going offshore and you didn't relise it.
Dick Smith foods is another company that is True blue.
Also Woolworths is a much larger company with bigger revenues so a larger conduit for sending money
to offshore entities.
Reminds me of those Aussie Flags with the " Made in China " labels ?? just weird.
