Crazy, I like ur comments and opinions but sometimes what must be Australian political sentiment and regulatory posturing gets 2 u and u somewhat forget the legislation in Her Majesty's Commonwealth of Australia. What do u suggest, the ACCC can prevent BP, a foreign company domiciled in England with reduced market presence in convenience, oil distribution and marketing taking over CTX? See AGL v ACCC over Macquarie Generation for instance.

R u serious? That is not the anti-trust law in Australia see article from ACCC above.
May I remind u that ex-Abbott Government Minister Billson wanted to change the law to reflect what u r suggesting. He was sacked from the Ministry by Turnbull and then dumped from the Parliament altogether. Anymore politicians like that, suffer the same fate, they will.
Even Bob Hawke's apparatchiks like Rod Sims have to operate within the law. And analogies between TLS and the Singapore Gov'ts excuse for a Telco and a part of WES joining WOW when they r duopoly players are unhelpful and not even close to comparisons with a totally oligopolistic petrol importation, refining, distribution and retail oil market chain. Sims was waffling on about how good groceries were that Aldi were keeping WOW and WES "honest". Really? Prices still seem exorbitant and margins still quite high. I think WES and WOW would like Sims to think Aldi and MTS/ IGA r having an impact when in reality, they r not.
The gullibility of regulators, Governments, sholders, even lawyers to such nonsense is terrible. I fear WOW is to some degree getting its house in order with margins not too far away from a very balanced mildly growing position. Suppliers r being hard hit by the price cutting, that is for certain.
