"Medical Informatics has offered the promise of improved delivery of healthcare but to date the usability of clinical applications has been moderate; the integration with and delivery of patient specific information at the point of care; and the provision of best evidence in a format that supports the clinician at the bedside has been slow to reach its potential.

The missing component in effective delivery of CDSS has been “Smartforms” that empowers clinicians at the point of care to access and deliver decision support… this is the promise that Alcidion can deliver upon. Smartforms may appear as an electronic replica of the traditional paper forms that have been the mainstay of healthcare administration and patient care since the origins of the healthcare ecosystems, but there is one critical differential — Clinical Decision Support is integrated into the electronic form, capturing and analysing the form to highlight and mitigate clinical risk.
