Looks like they plan to expand both in Australia and New Zealand, not just America.

Alcidion were exhibitors at the recent Digital Hospital Design Expo two weeks ago in Brisbane so they obviously have a strong focus on leading the tech changeovers in Australia. Seriously, this is going to be huge. Remember when doctors used to write prescriptions by hand? Some years ago, I worked on a systems development project to digitalise a doctors surgery's communications system. At the time, it was crititcised that patients would leave without paying if they didn't need to get their handwritten script from the desk when exiting. Now, it is standard surgery practise. Every medical centre has digital records. Every hospital. In just a few years, the digital patient chart will be in every hospital. Ask a nurse how much time it will free up for them, not to mention, how much accuracy it will provide. Children (even here in Australia) have died in hospital from medical overdose due to human error. The digital patient chart will eliminate such tragedies and its imminent rise should not be underestimated.

As you can tell, I'm bullish on this. I read the acquisition ann and initially thought 'boring concept' and was going to give it a miss but then I re-read it and took a deeper look at the company and the concept and you know what? I think it's a brilliant acquisition - perfectly timed in an emerging trend that has the support of both industry and government. The big money will be jumping on this.

And Alcidion seem to have a bit of a marketing campaign on at the moment. I see the ads on HC but also Google's algorithm is throwing Alcidion ads at me, now it knows I am looking. Alcidion. Bring it on!
