I recall from some of the early tech presentations that the DSR technique with these speaker arrays gave a response characteristic that had a constant slope from low to high frequency. This was contrasted with the uneven and lumpy response curves from even some of the best HiFi speaker systems using separate cones, which always had some sweet and not-so-sweet spots where their responses depended on the actual physical forms of the cones themselves. It was then stated that the strategy was to apply a correction factor right across the range so that the frequency response of the complete array was dead flat, i.e. it gave the same output level at all frequencies. That way the sound output would sound exactly as it would sound if the hearer was standing right next to the original sound source. No filtering. No boosting. I assume this will still be the aim of the full structure device. Quite how the new partial structure that provides higher response at low frequencies fits into this is not yet clear from the announcement explanation. Just as it has with the details of "half" and "partial" structures, and the all important dissipation layers it will take time for these kinds of technological details to be explained with any clarity and coherence. But I have no doubt that the engineering team know what they are about, and will find good uses for any novel technology in later device designs. I think it is clear that the original device is still the one that is being prepared for release in the near future. That cannot be far away now.
With a all due respects to @Treviking, the existence of a development history, complete with multiple unexpected problems and false dawns, is not really a reason to condemn the company as having no "true" value because it has not actually delivered a working finished product yet. That is a bit like suspecting that your wife is not really nine months pregnant, despite the bulge, because she keeps on having only transient labour pains that have still not yet produced a tangible son and heir.
I'm still waiting for the fat lady to sing, but I think she's going to sing all right, and fairly soon.
