Commonwealth Bank Expands Cornerstone Infrastructure

The CBA is an early pioneer of biometric technology, testing and implementing iris recognition access control systems in Sydney in 2000. The bank implemented Cornerstone during the early period of application development and used the technology to connect and centrally manage personnel across a number of data centres and operationally sensitive facilities. The CBA has continued to fit Cornerstone as it has matured, based in part on the inherent stability, accuracy and strength of audit offered by the software. But the CBA has also continued its innovation with Cornerstone by recognizing its utility in meeting international standards in access control and personnel audit requirements for those accessing key data storage areas. The CBA initiatives in using Cornerstone in this way are a world first in both the banking and biometric industries.
Orders this week are for the expansion of Cornerstone in New South Wales and Victoria, connecting additional sites to existing infrastructure in Sydney and Melbourne. Cornerstone will allow the CBA to supervise access control at remote sites from a central location, providing the customer with unequivocal management as well as strong event audit, all underpinned by the high reliability and zero identification failure rates for which Cornerstone is well known.
