AGL to lift electricity prices in SA by 25pc in Jan

Sydney - Monday - September 30: (RWE) - AGL will lift standard
electricity prices in South Australia by 25 per cent on January 1 2003.
The new prices will comply with the SA Independent Industry
Regulator's "Electricity Retail Price Justification Report" and
supporting guideline.
From January 1 2003 standard electricity prices for residential
customers in SA will increase on average by 58c, adding around $4 a week
to the average electricity bill for a medium-sized house.
Prices for small business customers will rise about 16 per cent.
AGL general manager, South Australia, Mr Sandy Canale noted
there had been significant external increases in the cost of buying and
supplying electricity to customers.
"The increases in residential and small business customers'
prices are a direct reflection of those external cost increases - they
are not about additional profit for AGL," he said.
AGL closed on Friday at $9.76.
