and Ausdoc..... as far as billing goes I personally believe that those GPs with a lot of experience, a loyal following and able to keep appointment times, should be allowed to charge privately. However, Doctors new to the practice, with less experience should be contracted to bulk bill walk ins exclusively for a mutually agreed upon period of time then move to bulk billed appointments. When competency and time management skills have been established along with a following prepared to pay , move on to private billing. That way as new doctors come on board there is a constant mix of bulk billed walk ins, bulk billed appointments, and private billing.
