There's a bit of friendly competition between Australian gold companies operating in West Africa to see which will be the next to bring a new mine into production.

Perseus Mining is making good progress with its Ayanfuri project in Ghana, but it looks as though it will be beaten to the post by Adamus Resources.

Adamus is expected to announce today that it has secured a loan facility for either US$60m or US$70m from Macquarie Group, wrapping up financing for its Southern Ashanti Project in Ghana.
