It was SA not WA. But I think Stefan would have taken the position and left the family in SA to keep his options open. Because with all the Board instability, he had every reason to be concerned.

There's a point where friendship won't stretch to damaging reputations. Or at least, that's how I think of the fallout between Studley and GC. So Studley got smashed anyway by the angry mob misled by a conspiracy theory....but he stood for good governance. Nobody can deny the latter, even if they still believe in the conspiracy theory on Diasource and Hurrell, leading to the absurd idea that to hurt Hurrell (on the basis that you believe the conspiracy theory) you have to attack Studley.

So you have an ex Roche executive in place. But he was senior to GC and he would have professional standards. Even if he may be influenced by GC's war stories.

It's just that there is cause for pause about spending and strategy. Because you don't know how good some people are at strategy when they've come from a large organisation like Roche, because they are protected by the size of the organisation. Someone else may well have done the strategic work.

Thinking along these lines, GC was pretty much a glorified salesman. He did a great job at selling the dream to ADO investors, less convincing with actual buyers of the product. Strategy? He doesn't appear to be terribly skilled at facing reality about takeup and barriers to entry on ADO technology does he? OK he presided as Chairman over Sienna's listing, But, and it's a big But, he was apparently quite distracted by that. So far proving his credentials as a strategist on that score is at best doubtful.

All in the past some say. Except the Roadshow just sounds all too familiar.

My hope is that the outsourcing, advanced stage of development and involvement of 3rd parties means these serious errors in strategy are now not such a problem. But there is always a chance of a stuff up with this crowd. IMO.

BTW I have held since 2011. My war stories on account of being an independent thinker in here, are legion.
