It would be interesting to know what mines and capacity is taken out since 2013 or planned for closure now. The take or pay contracts for haulage and port allocation would have forced a lot of mines to stay open irrespective of prices. Don't forget that coal prices have been driven down by producers in US and Canada dumping in the international market because of displacement from low priced gas and environmental laws. I suspect there is a significant structural element to the low prices.
