You may have misunderstood. MON did not go out and buy AYR shares, they came as part of the overall purchase of the Harmony assets (Mt Magnet) and are warpped in the big picture ourchase of those assets.
The funding comment was about Mt Magnet ($50m+ cash and script deal), not $500,000 worth of AYR, although based on the $1,000,000 in the bank at the end of Dec maybe one should not be so quick to say the bank would not be broken even with this small amount.
