malta, thanks for that snippet. Presumably your blood test was done privately outside the government health services?
The situation here in NSW with public health is that most administrations still seem to stick religously to the existing guidelines requiring a skin test, not a blood test. As idiotic as it may seem our local hospital staff have to troop along to the local private pathology practice to have the skin test placed and read, the waste of staff time is ludicrous, let alone the potential for false results.
Some encouraging signs seem to be emerging in our local public health workers, a few who are familiar with TB and the skin test are keen to see change.
However in Australia the National TB Advisory Committee is still living in the Dark Ages by stipulating skin testing, makes one wonder how they can justify their existence.
