Western Australia based company Advanced Braking Technology (ABT) has received a highly commended for its Sealed Integrated Braking System (SIBS).

Dubbed the Agi Brake, the SIBS is a fully enclosed, wet braking system which features a spring applied, hydraulic release mechanism. The wet brake might not be a new concept but ABT has managed to downscale the technology to a single rotor.

The braking application is targeted at light commercial vehicles used in the mining industry and can be fitted to trucks in the 22,000kg to 24,000kg gross vehi cle mass (GVM) range.

According to ABT, the brake has fast-gained the approval amongst operators of heavy trucks on mine sites where standard vehicle brakes often fail to perform properly in harsh site conditions.

The SIBS brake has proved itself in some of the world?s most ruthless conditions including: sub-zero temperatures in North America; arid desert-like situations in the Australian bush; and the salty/acidic/humid environ ment of many underground mining operations.
