Iron Ore
The Padbury Group’s Robinson Range Formation contains at least two 30 m thick bands of supergene-enriched Banded Iron Formation. The bands are separated by 30m of iron-rich shale; the Padbury Group’s Millidie Creek Formation. Active iron ore exploration in the district is focused on both units.
The district was last explored for iron ore in the mid 70’s and by 1974 less than 10Mt of goethite and hematite mineralisation was outlined. Improving commodity prices, improved market opportunities for junior companies, and several +60% Fe results in geochemical samples collected in the 1990’s by the Geological Survey of Western Australia, has rejuvenated exploration interest in the Robinson Ranges. The new enthusiasm for the Robinson Ranges was recently confirmed by Midwest Corporation, whose ground abuts the Three Rivers Project, has reported rock chip values ranging between 35 and 64.9% Fe. Midwest also report that deleterious elements are generally within acceptable limits: SiO2 <8.2%, P <0.17%, Al2O3 <2.9%.
The Three Rivers Project covers some 3.2 line km of prospective BIF in two tenements (E52/1364 and E52/1582)."
Warnie loves iron ore and is into FMS in a big way, his comments above are good .
It looks like GPN might be onto some iron-ore with any luck.
