Justin has once again misrepresented reality. I have taken a look at Harvey's LinkedIn profile and it reveals some interesting facts. To start with, Harvey refuses to acknowledge anywhere on his profile that he works at Watermark instead preferring to say he is the "Head of International Equities" at a "Long/Short Hedge Fund". This is the only role which he chooses to not disclose (but then again I'd probably be too embarrassed to tell anyone I worked at Watermark as well!)
On 15 November 2017 when Justin released the announcement of Harvey's hire he stated the following:
"Harvey joins Watermark after 4 years with leading global hedge fund, Balyasny Asset Management. Prior to this, he held senior roles with Amiya Capital and Apax Partners covering a diverse range of global sectors including aerospace, defence, and TMT."
To start with, Harvey's LinkedIn profile reveals he worked at Balyasny for only 2 years and 6 months but somehow Justin felt it appropriate to round his actual 2.5 years experience to 4 years in the announcement! Talk about misleading.
On top of that, the profile also makes it blatantly obvious that he has never been a portfolio manager before. Until Justin brought him on, he had only ever been an analyst in all previous roles. What was Justin's basis for thinking he would be able to fix the performance issues and also stating he had held "senior roles"? Last I checked, a freshly minted analyst is far from being a "senior role".
