You are right. Geoff is the man and his people are learning from the best (sincerely).
My concern is what happens when if he gets hits by a bus. I actually asked him this some time ago by e-mail and he actually answered personally (impressed me). He said he plans to be leading these funds when he is 80. That's fine but as even he would say you cannot predict what happens in the future. Since then I have noticed that his investment people (and CEOs) have been building a profile in the media. That will help instill confidence in the market if something unexpectedly happens to him.
I personally have maxed out the amount of money I would allocate to one person (Geoff). I used to include ALF under that same umbrella but I do not now. Although Justin Braitling does not have the media profile of Geoff, ALF's data shows Justin is good or even better than Geoff's lot managing my money.
I think media profile is almost as important as ability at any one point in time. However, for LICs performance is forever when it appears in ASX announcements, whereas people forget what appeared on TV two years ago. Besides, a LIC with poor media but excellent performance means buying opportunity
