At least copper and gold, where current global resources are just decades of annual consumption, brings on exploration that might actually result in something being mined - other than just punter's pockets. These speciality commodity booms where known resources or easily expanded resources are already good for millennia at current demand levels are a terrible waste of human endeavour.
e.g. lithium, graphite, phosphates, etc.
