Yup that's how I read into Danny's comment.

I have a theory about the announcement containing "a number of months"; I think it was authored a few weeks before it was released (no idea why this happened). The theory is based on what has appeared to have transpired since it was written, i.e. this happened around the start of August:

"Aided by this newly accessible data, the company in combination with the vendor and a number of world‐class experts, launched a comprehensive program designed to improve the effectiveness, reliability and stability of the devices under the very demanding control and timing conditions involved in high‐quality reproduction of speech and music playback."

Then this happened throughout the rest of August:

"Before committing to a new process, the Company and vendor immediately launched a series of trials to validate the recommendations and performance of the new dielectric material, all of which showed extremely convincing results. On that basis the Company and vendor redesigned the fabrication process flow were needed and have already begun to produce a large number of wafers that implement the changes and recommendations. "

If the first wafer they receive tests positively then we should expect to hear something mid October.
