Yes and the company (read its then chairman) - it is reported - knocked back a very attractive ("theoretical") takeover offer from NAB, if I remember correctly - and I again say "it is reported" this happened.
The last decade has not been good for many (most) SUN holders in my opinion and the maths I believe support such an opinion!
