@mogga...the problem for me with all of this is my realisation that my eldest daughter (13) is now a staunch lefty created by the illimitable lefty mindset that is our schools and universities.
I personally identify as politically
slightly right of center, even though I have studied at the PhD level and therefore have been (heavily) exposed to the left wing mindset coming from the education system. A lot of my closest lecturers and supervisors would also have identified as slightly right leaning, despite this, their advice was always to promote left-wing ideology because that's what the system demanded of them and their students.
On the topic of climate change...my PhD was very much in the environmental arena...and I can say from my own academic experience that AGW
is questionable...not saying it is right or wrong but it is still academically debatable from both sides. Despite what the IPCC "experts" say.
Moving away from fossil fuels makes nothing but good sense in terms of air/water quality also in terms of geopolitics and energy security among other things...however to make it all about "global warming" (now "climate change") is to ignore other more pressing environmental problems that have there roots in unquestionable facts.
Despite my high level knowledge of this topic I purposely avoid the climate and environment topics on HC because of the crazy blinkered lefty mindset which prevails. I just can't be bothered.
No cult followers...I won't engage on this topic on this thread either so please don't bother.
