From the website Optus set up for clever buoy , it would be a Long term project as they aim to use clever buoy to capture all marine animals , that is a cool idea for statistics/ data anaylsis , and it goes with the trend of the world of data.
SMS is the core technology provider/license owner behind the clever buoy, as far as I feel, it is techi techi company, people probably more focus on developing the technology behind the products.

As far as I understand from the past posts about the trials along the beaches, hi-tech is quite welcomed being added as a new protection layer to the exsisting shark detecting system (including manually detecting methods) , and it is smarter and quicker and will become better as the agorithm improve. As nowadays , Pattern recognation(machine learning ) algorithm is acting as an auto check and taking over the manual check in the Car parks in shopping malls, it recognizes the number on the car plate and never mistakes.People donot need a ticket to get into a car park, as the "eyes" take over the job of a ticket machine.In ten year when people talk about machine learning will be the same as electricity today. Machines are getting smarter and taking over the manual works . The idea of the company is inline with the word of technology trends.
