I think it's a play that is matching Autodesk's interest in the sector. They're pushing their BIM 360 platform pretty hard, and all their new bolt on stuff is all about collaboration and document management.
What I'm seeing more and more is that the digital model, rather than just the PDFs, is becoming a deliverable. Autodesk owns the authoring space... Aconex might have gotten out at just the right time.
