Families looking west and south of Brisbane for affordable homes

    Aug 9, 2018

From mega shopping centres to state-of-the-art parks, south east Queensland's once semi-rural areas are transforming.
At Ripley west of Brisbane, a new $5 million playground,...

“This area is great, it’s family friendly, it’s affordable and it’s got big green open spaces,” Frank Galvin from Sekisui House said.
The biggest growth can be seen in Brisbane's west and north of the Gold Coast, where at Coomera a new Westfield is taking shape.
"South-East Queensland is adding over 6000 residents per month to its population," Ashley Fell, a social researcher with McCrindle said.
From dense bushland, to neat rows of homes, the changes are plain to see on aerial images captured by technology company Nearmap.

At Pimpama, once undeveloped land is now crowded with residents.
"You see almost the infrastructure going in, first the roads and then you see the clearing of the land and then ultimately you see the development of the residential estates and all the infrastructure around it," Rob Newman from Nearmap said.
It wasn’t long ago there was nothing but bushland surrounding Ipswich, but the region has transformed and it's growing by more than 8000 people a year – faster than anywhere else in the state.
From hospitals, schools and universities to entertainment precincts and a large shopping centre.
In Ipswich suburbs like Leichardt and Riverview, families can still snap up good quality family homes for less than $250,000.
