It's a shame for our purposes that their control arm didn't involve a sham ultrasound procedure to make it a double-blind trial and thus incorporate the placebo effect.

Given the i) ultrasound plus SOC; and ii) SOC only curves fit almost directly over each other it leads me to two possibilities: either there was no placebo effect (best outcome for FTT!) or the ultrasound intervention was negative and effectively cancelled out the placebo effect.
