Jan 2007 before TAG got the boot "This 2000m test will evaluate the Kate anticline, a 15 square kilometre surface feature with some high quality oil seeps around the perimeter of the structure. No wells have previously been drilled within the 1.3 million-acre (526,000-hectare) permit. "Kate is one of the most exciting in TAG's portfolio of exploration prospects," company president Drew Cadenhead told PetroleumNews.net. "As a geologist, there is nothing better than seeing a big surface anticline with oil seeps. "Some subsurface people believe that offshore to onshore oil migration in Canterbury is not possible. We do not hold to that theory, however. It's hard to dispute the shows of thermogenic oil at Kate." Cadenhead said that if Kate-1 proved the existence of a viable oil system and that structure was full of oil, then the field could contain some tens of millions of barrels of oil."
"we will also be drilling a number of very large impact prospects, including our exciting Kate prospect down on the South Island. If any one of those comes through, it will change the nature of this company." (TAG)
