If you think carbon has any hope of competing with wheat or any other land use including biomass for energy markets you at best naive. Hyperinflating coal prices are yet another nail in the coffin for this ludicrous idea there is enough land out there to offset carbon emissions. We live in a carbon constrained world so why would we bury it? If you are planting mallees you should keep your options open as a landholder for selling biomass to static electricity or cellulosic biofuel markets. Something you can't do if you have signed over to 100 years of carbon credits ...
