    I asked my Brokers years ago.....

    Rule hasnt changed......
    If a stock is doing a rights offer etc.....
    to buy ON MARKET, u need to by the DAY BEFORE it traded EX.

    Once it DOES trade Ex, you can then sell the stock and still get the entitlement.

    With regards to the Record date when theres a rights offer , as I said, it applies to off market transfers
