Appreciate the intelligent observations Praetorian. I'd have to say, I'd agree with all of your comments and would be pleasantly surprised if there are 50k subscribers currently on X the product, as this would indicate that they have generated over $500k USD in recurring revenue already.

I just gave the Flexiroam X calling function a test (over the native Telstra 4G SIM) just to see if it worked outside the SIM. Yes it worked and quality was ok.

It presented a Malaysian Caller ID, but presumably this is because I haven't setup that part.

I'm extremely wary of how the calling function will work from Oz if they are popping their SIP calls out of the Isle of Jersey as they are doing with their Internet service. If they do, the latency will be horrible and user exerience will suffer. Given they popped my test call out of Malaysia, perhaps they are handling voice in a different way?

As you highlighted, voice that isn't particularly cheap, or indeed voice in general I don't see as being the killer app, everyone has other apps that can handle this.

The killer part of this announcement was in the footnote:

"Flexiroam X app in the coming months to have wider coverage access points, including inflight data access and data from global Wi-Fi hotspots"

As I've posted on the NOR threads, I couldn't care less about global WiFi, but it will be funny if FRX beats NOR to the punch on that one

The awesome one is inflight broadband. This is high value niche that no-one yet has exploited effectively. The two main (GoGo are the biggest and use WiFi)  but it would be simple if FRX can arrange a cellular roaming deal with someone like http://www.aeromobile.net/

Locking in high value business travellers = $$$
