To paraphrase one of the videos, IMEC is a non-profit research facility, so they will only take on projects they feel will provide beneficial research and progress for future technologies. In terms of validation from IMEC, to me that speaks volumes. They believe 4DS' ReRam is a large enough advancement in tech to spend the resources and time helping them bring it to test-chip Fab stage.
